School Costume Parade

Wesley had a parade at his school today. Lani and I ventured out to the school this afternoon to watch the kindergarten-third grade walk around the track. Some of the older classes came out to wave and cheer for all the younger kids walking around.

**Wesley: I was really excited. I had a party and ate pretzels, juice, and grapes. My friend Zachary had a yoda costume. That was my favorite. I was Robin with a mask on.**

Lani is 4 months old!

Lani turned 4 months old yesterday. She loved posing with her Teddy. It was a challenge to get her face because she loves to eat anything that is put into her hands. I have been warning Wesley that it is almost time to baby proof the house. I tried to get a smiling one but she is to interested in the camera to keep smiling.

Lani and I have been enjoying our days at home together. Michael and I have been blessed with a beautiful and good tempered baby. Unless there is a large group of people she is smiley and happy. We have a good routine going which helps to keep me organized and sane. I never was a person who needed to have a schedule but now I thrive on it. I love the predictability of my days and nights. She has been sleeping through the night until around 3 or 4. She eats and then will go back to sleep until around 8 or 8:30. I get up with Wesley at 6 so I use this time to get housework done. I would rather do it in the morning so I can relax at night after Lani and Wesley go to sleep.

Lani is growing and staying healthy since her last cold. I make sure that Wesley washes his hands as soon as he gets home from school to cut down on the amount of germs coming into the house. She loves the sound of her voice. She makes a sound that is a cross between a grunt and a screech. She especially loves to do it in the grocery store where it is nice and quiet. SOme of her favorite things are her “lovey”. It is a plush teddy bear head on a blanket that is plush on one side and silky on the other. She likes it right up next to her face while she is sleeping which makes me extremely nervous so she only has it when she is sleeping downstairs where I can see her. At night she has been doing okay with out it so far. She still loves her swing and sitting in her highchair while I am cooking dinner.

Wesley loses a tooth!

Wesley lost his third tooth a few weeks ago. He woke up crying one morning and went Michael went into check on him the tooth was laying on his pillow. This is his 2nd tooth that he has lost during the noght. He is glad that he has not swallowed either of them!!
The tooth fairy left him a dollar under in his pillow and somehow she got in the house during Michael’s birthday party without anyone seeing her and put money in his pants pocket! (thanks Grampy

Sewalls Falls Trail

This is a trail that we love to walk during the Fall season. Michael and I discovered this trail while we were still dating and have been going back each year. We went a little later in the season this year so the color was passed but it was still a nice walk. It goes along a beautiful river (not sure which one) with thick trees on the other side that are always bright early in the Fall. We attempted to take some family photos using the timer on the camera. Lani is beginning to like being in her carrier. She even fell asleep when it was Michael’s turn to carry her.
Wesley loves all the places he can explore on this trail. We found a neat tree that was growing in all kinds of crazy ways. He and Michael spent some time checking that out. Wesley also collected some different colored leaves to show his class.

Apple Picking

We went apple picking at Meadow Ledge Farm in Loudon! It was a beautiful October day with clear blue skies and warm sunshine! Most of the lower apples had already been picked so Michael had to pick up Wesley and lift him to the higher apples. Michael wanted to climb the trees but Wesley reminded him of the tractor drivers rule, “please do not climb the trees”. What a good boy. Lani did well in her pack until the very end. She sat on Michael’s lap for the tractor ride down to the barn.

Wesley's Yellow Belt...

The children in the back are new to the class and have not been promoted yet. They all will be promoted at their own pace. Which is nice because it teaches them that not everything has to be a competion.

Wesley tested for and received his yellow belt. Michael presented his belt to him in this small traditional ceremony. His instructors have the parents present the belt since we are the ones who are sending him on his karate journey.
Michael also received his next belt which was orange. I don’t have any photos of that because Lani was fussing so we couldn’t stay for his class.

Three Months and all stuffy!

Lani woke up on Monday with her first cold. She did okay for most of the day but by the afternoon she was full on congested and fussy. We went to the store to get the saline and began the suctioning process. She of course hates every minute of it but it really does help. I spent most of the evening calming her fears of having a stuffy nose. It was a new feeling to her and she became extremely upset when she couldn’t breathe with her mouth shut. She soon caught on that it is all much easier with the mouth left open. She slept okay Monday night but spent most of it propped up in bed with me. That was the only way to keep her sinuses open so I didn’t get too much sleep that night worrying about her. The next day she got the small fever and was not doing well at all. So we hung out on the couch all day together except for when Jen sat with her so that I could go and get some tylenol. Thanks Jen!!! She took several long naps and in between we suctioned. Tuesday night was better because we just layed her in bed next to me and Michael camped out on the floor. Of course I still did not sleep well because I was worried about her rolling off the pillow we had her slightly propped on. She was so tired that she did not move a muscle until it was time for a quick snack :) Michael did not go to work because we got to have lunch with Wesley at school. He decided to use his last personal say for that. So I took a nice long nap after Wesley left for school. Here are her 3 month photos a few days late. We went to the doctor today for her well child check and it seems that her cold is getting better quickly. She was in a better mood today and less stuffy.

She weighed in at 15 pounds 4 ounces and 23 inches long. Both were in the 95th percentile for her age. She has to go back next week to get her immunizations since she had a fever yesterday. I am not looking forward to that although since Wesley they have turned 3 shots into one so she gets 2 this time instead of 4!

Our Soccer Star

His two coaches are Hollie and Rick.
Hollie has a baby girl that is 14 days older than Lani and she sits in a front pack while Mommy coaches!They both are super nice and have an abundance of patience while dealing with over 20 6-8 year olds!!

Here he is waiting for the ball to come his way! They get a chance to play several positions during the game.

Wesley plays soccer on the 1st and 2nd grade team for our towns Parks and Recreation Department!They have practice every Wednesday and games on Saturday! He had his first game this Saturday and it was so fun to watch all of the kids playing! Even if it was 8:00 in the morning!
