I heard it's my birthday!
I am officially 30 today. Thanks so much to everyone who has been sending me birthday wishes:)
Michael and I went out last night because we could not find a babysitter for tonight. Michael's mom and Dad watched the kiddos while we went out to Ol.ive Gar.den. We had a yummy meal and Michael totally EMBARRASSED me when he had the wait staff sing their little birthday jingle. I wanted to crawl under the table, but the cake was delish.
After we headed to Wallhell and I bought a sewing machine with my birthday money from Gramma C!! I have been wanting one so that I can start making some cool projects that I see online:) I tried it out last night and couldn't even get the dang bobbin thread to catch. Michael did though!! But, shhhh...I was not supposed to let anyone know that!! LOL!! I bought some super cheap and super ugly fabric to practice on. I can't wait until I can start making some goodies.
Now that I have this I would love any suggestions from you all about:
1. The best place to buy fabric
2. Any websites with great tutorials for beginners
3. Your favorite books
4. Also, how do you cut your fabric straight?!? LOL!!
It is snowing here so I am sure that we will just stay in and celebrate my actual birthday.
12 people showing me love:
First off, Happy Birthday!!! Secondly, snow? You are kidding me!
It sounds like you had a good time last night. :)
Yay for sewing machines! I usually go to JoAnn's for fabric, our WM never has ANYTHING fabric wise.
I use a ruler on my craft table for my fabric cutting.
Have fun!!!
When I took a quilting class, I bought a board that had measurements on it and I would line my fabric on it and use a roller cutter to cut it. I've got a hardly been used sewing machine in my attic and I need to get it down and USE IT!! But what for? I need ideas.
Love Olive Garden! Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!! Glad you were able to go out last nite & had a good time! That's awesome that you bought a sewing machine! I don't know what to tell you about Fabric as I'm not really a crafty person ;) Good luck finding one & good luck w/sewing! You'll have to post pics of your 1st project :)
Happy Birthday!!!
We got snow here today too! Firs time!
Happy Birthday!!! And a sewing machine!!! That sounds great...and yeah, I'd love some tips on how to cut fabric straight too! haha :) My mom is my sewing advisor (ha!) and she pretty much says...sew here, do this, sew there...and that's how I do it...so, unfortunately I don't have many tips for you...I could probably use some tips though! hehe :)
Glad you made it out to celebrate your birthday! Hope it was fantastic!
And snow....it's supposed to snow here tonight! I'm excited, and can't wait.
Just thought I should say happy birthday here as well!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Glad you had an enjoyable birthday. The snow sounds so nice. I can't wait to get some here.
Happy 30th!
If you figure out how to cut fabric straight, please let me know, lol. The cheapest place to find fabric is most definitely Walmart. At the ones here they have a section that is $1.00 per yard and another section that is $2.00 per yard. Of course, they have other fabrics that are more expensive, and some of them are very nice. Other stores have more of a selection...stores like Hobby Lobby and Hancock, but they are a lot more expensive. I covered my dining room chairs with fabric from Walmart...and that's also where I got the fabric for Lila's Halloween costume.
UM HELLO! U---HOO! I am only like only an hour away? You could of called me!
Happy Birthday! (I'm a little late)
Belated happy birthday to you! Can't help with the sewing...although I do applaud you for taking it up!
Sorry to be so late on this...but Happy Birthday!!
I buy fabric at a discount fabric store here in Raleigh...there may be something like that where you are...
