Staying Cool at Grammie's Pool!

Wesley and his cousins, Jenna and Leah, were keeping cool in Grammys pool. We have had some hot and humid days here so thank goodness for Grammy. They all love to jump in the pool over and over. Wesley has just discovered that he stays a float when wearing a life jacket and is able to move around easier then in a floaty. It amazes me that when Weskey decides he wants to try something he goes all the way. He swam around in the life jacket for a while so he could get used to how it feels. Next he began to jump off the ladder. Soon Grammy convinced him to jump off the side so that the ladder would not break. To my surprise he actually did it, went under, came up and after wiping his face he yelled “That was awesome”!! I was waiting for the crying and choking but that never came. Now he jumps and jumps and jumps!!

One Month Old

Lani turned one month today and doesn’t seem too happy about that in this photo. I guess she can’t be sweet and happy in every picture:) We love this teddy that her Great Grammy and Grampy Babkirk got her so we have decided to photograph her with him each month. She is now 11 pounds 4 ounces and 22 inches long and she is really beginning to fill out and is getting some more chubs on her!!! She is at the beginning stages of cooing and smiling. Every once in a while a noise slips out when we are talking to her, especially Wesley. She is still nursing well but her good sleep schedule is starting to change a little. She only sleeps about 2 hours at a time and refuses to sleep in her crib. She wants to be right next to Mommy and Daddy in bed! Everyonce in a while we will get 3 or 4 hours! This has been an amazing month and I am looking forward to what next month will bring us!!

Three Weeks Old

Lani was three weeks old on Saturday! She is getting so big and changing so much each day. It has been very hot and humid these past few days. Lani has been sleeping more and not eating as much because she is just too hot. She continues to sleep great at night. She slept a record 6 1/2 hours the other night. I woke up around 3:30 really NEEDING to nurse :) but she slept on until 4:30!

Michael took out his guitar one night before bath time to try and calm Lani down. She immediately turned towards the sound and stopped crying. He doesn’t take his guitar out much now because of work and other interests so it was good to hear him playing it again! Lani seemed to enjoy it also.

Two Weeks Old

Here is Lani doing what she does best! She is 2 weeks old today and has already changed so much! Her hair is even starting to thin out on the sides which is so sad! I was hoping she would keep her beautiful dark hair. It is not likely though since I had the same dark hair and it soon turned to blonde! Michael went back to work this Wednesday after being on vacation the week before! He only worked half day on Wed. because I caught some sort of bug and was not doing so well. He came home to help me with Wesley and Lani! I just couldn’t drag myself out of bed! Wesley, Lani, and I survived the rest of the week though by relaxing around the house and playing outside. Wesley has decided to start his own business of smashing little rocks with bigger rocks in the driveway. Our dirt road was grated and that loosened a lot of the rocks so his business has been keeping him very busy!

Two Week Check Up

Lani had her two week check up today and is doing great! She now weighs 9lbs 2oz.(75th percentile) She was 8lbs. when the visiting nurse came so I guess she is getting plenty to eat!

Lani has been such a good baby! She sleeps, eats and poops! She only really fusses when she is hungry or gassy! We are enjoying the nights because she sleeps about 4-5 hours, nurses, and then goes back to sleep! I am being spoiled because Wesley never slept and was crying the whole time! He thinks this is very funny when we tell him all about that! We hope that she continues on with this pattern and doesn’t decide that it is no fun to sleep at night! Oh, Welsey wanted me to tell you that her umbilical cord fell off at the doctors today! He thinks that is just the neatest thing! He wanted to save it but I can thank Dr. Fox for convincing him that it is just a “big scab” as she put it and he decided that saving it was not a good idea! (For us anyway)

Happy 4th of July

We went to the fireworks in Concord with Lisa, Josh and the kids! They played on the playground at the Elementary school next door and then we went down to the middle school field to watch the fireworks. While we waited for them to start the kids played with sparklers and posed for a few pictures! It is awesome to watch our family grow so much!

Purple Belt

Wesley was promoted to purple belt on Monday in his karate class. He is doing great and really enjoys learning karate! Being only 6 sometimes he gets a little silly in class but his instructor has an amazing amount of patience and his helping Wesley to focus.
