On Monday of our vacation we took a day trip to Ogunquit, Maine. It was quite the adventure as we were caught in the rain more than once. There were high spirits all around and we made the most of it! Even Lani did not mind it so much:) We had a picnic lunch, played in the ocean, ate some ice cream, and enjoyed the day! Here are some pictures!

The boys looking out into the ocean. This was the beginning of the trail and the sun was still shining! Not for long though!!

Waiting under a group of trees for the rain to slow down! Don’t you love the hair? This is one of the reasons I hate having hair that I have to “do”!! Oh, well! Everyone there was looking like a wet dog, not just me:)

It was high tide at this exact moment! Wesley and I had fun pretending to be stranded on the rocks! The rain clouds finally parted! Look at the beautiful sky and water!

On Wednesday and Thursday we headed to Burlington, Vermont for the holiday. We stopped in to Ben and Jerry’s Factory for a tour and some of their delicious ice cream. I couldn’t take any pictures inside because of their top secret equipment! LOL! At the end we were able to sample a new flavor named “Cinnamon Buns”! I thought it was going to be nasty because it has chunks of cinnamon bun dough in it. But, I must say that it was yummers. After the tour we headed out to the playground, played some games and visited the “flavor grave yard”!! Thank goodness none of my fav’s have made it there yet! I didn’t take any pictures of it, but you can see the graveyard if you click on the link above.

Of course we had a larger sample from the scoop shop there. I had “Heath Bar Crunch”, Wesley had “Double Fudge Brownie”, and Michael had “CoffeeCoffeeBuzzBuzz”(Lani had a nibble from each).

In the sample room.

The famous Ben and Jerry’s van.
We headed out to Burlington and checked into the hotel. It was clouding up, but we decided to go downtown for a walk along Lake Champlain. Yeah, once again we were stuck in some rain. We huffed it back up to the car (did I mention that when you leave the lake it is up a pretty steep hill!!) and went to dinner. We spent the rest of the night at the hotel pool because the fireworks were cancelled.*boo* I love fireworks and this is the first year I have missed them EVER.

Wesley loved it and decided that he was brave enough to jump in and swim under water. Last year he cried when his face was splased! Lani was okay with the pool, but she had much more fun walking around the edge. I was loving this pool because it was not super hot. They had a large fan that was blowing out all the yucky hot pool air.
On Thursday we let Wesley swim for a little bit before we had to check out and then headed to ECHO: Lake Aquarium and Science Center right in Burlington. It was a really nice place with lots for Wesley to do. Lani was good as long as we kept feeding her:) It was mostly about Lake Champlain, it’s wildlife, and how it was formed! His favorite was the dinosaur exhibit, of course!

Lani was so mad that she could not actually touch the fish!

A few of Wesley’s favorites from the dinosaur exhibit.

Lani and Wesley loved playing in the mist outside of the science center.
After leaving the Science Center, we went to lunch on Church Street and did a little shopping. We were all getting tired and Lani was losing it, so we went to the car and started on our way home. We made a pit stop at Vermont Teddy Bear Factory to go on their tour. It was pretty boring, their bears are EXPENSIVE, and our tour had 20 obnoxious “troubled teens” who taught Wesley some nice words!! I guess all that matters is that Wesley loved it, right?

Here are the kids outside. I didn’t get too many pictures here becuase my card was too full.
I warned you that it was going to be a long one!!

If you made it to the end of this post, you ROCK!! We had a great mini-vacation but were glad to be “Home Sweet Home”!! “
