Relay for Life
Michael's band, The Knucklecocks, is going to be playing at our local Relay for Life event. As many of you know, my father passed away when he was only 34 from brain cancer. This event helps The American Cancer Society raise money to help those who are fighting this horrible disease. I am so proud of them for being a part of this day and I am going to look into doing something to volunteer. Maybe I will just go and take a bunch of photos for people.

That's a lovely event. We used to always give $$ to the ACS, but this year we gave to St. Jude's ... they have a better charitable rating than ACS (more $$ goes to programs).
That's the one bummer about my 9K ... it doesn't benefit anything. It's just a celebration of motherhood .. which isn't BAD, I suppose, but it would be nice if a bit of our entrance fee was donated to something.

Karen~Nope...this particular one is in Concord at NHTI. I do believe that their are several different ones around the state!
I will be walking again this year in the Race for Hope in DC which directly helps the Brain Tumor Association. A co-worker of mine passed away a few yrs ago from a brain tumor plus one of program managers lost his wife to a brain tumor. Send me an email with your father's name and I will add it to those I walk in memory of.

I participated in Relay for Life one year. My grandpa died from brain cancer and my grandma died from breast cancer. It's a really great organization to support! That's awesome that Michael and the band are participating!
I'm participating in my local American Cancer Society Relay at the end of April with a group of people from work. I'll purchase and light a luminary in honor of your dad....
Cancer has affected my life too - my Dad, two aunts and two of my friends are survivors.
And I think it would be awesome if you participated! It's such a great cause.
Ohh.. you're not going to walk??? If you did.. I would have walked with you!! But pictures is second best...!! That's for sure!!!
